After years of highly pleasurable gaming on your Xbox 360 it finally happens, the awful red rings of death. Those three blinking lights that spell doom for your gaming addiction. Rather than throwing the expensive brick through a wall, what are your options?

Your first option that you might think about would be to buy a brand new xbox. Now that the prices have dropped, and the console is only $299 it’s a viable option. Definitely cheaper than the first console you bought on Ebay for $600. One of the benefits of the newer versions of 360s is the addition of HDMI output. Definitely more compatible with the newer Plasma and LCD screens out there, plus it allows multiple HD inputs with the HDMI cables. Versus usually only one HD Component cable connection per tv.

One good reason to upgrade to a new version of the 360 is that the new versions have even larger hard drives. While the older version has a 20gb hard drive, now the newer versions have 60gb hds for the same cost as the older version, or actually even cheaper than the older version.

Microsoft also claims that with the new Xbox 360s they’ve made some of the chips smaller which should reduce overheating. And it does appear that the first models that came out almost all failed while the newer versions have gotten quite good. We’ll see if they really have licked the problem.

Second, for those with electronic experience, the repair itself is pretty straight forward. However, I must reiterate that you should have extensive electronic experience to undertake this, a small slip and you’ll end up killing your entire system. There are ebooks, message boards, and video tutorials on how to fix xbox 360’s so there is definitely some help out there if you’re feeling adventurous.

Third, and probably the safest bet is to send the console back to Microsoft. Just by calling them, they will send you a box to send the console in. It will cost roughly $140 to get Microsoft to make the repairs, however that’s still quite a bit less than buying a whole new system.

As a fourth alternative, there are plenty of independent repair firms that will fix xbox 360’s. These repairs start at around $69 and go to around $200. Make sure you look for a company with a good warranty, and that guarantees their work.

There are plenty of choices to fix your ailing xbox 360. It depends on which choice you choose on what your results may be. It’s worth it though based upon the excellent quality of gaming we can get on the 360. Now if there were only a way to get a blueray drive on the 360.

Things have changed radically in the last few years on the computer front. After years of domination by CRT(Cathode-Ray Tube) monitors, increasingly things are moving towards LCD Monitors.

If you still have a bulky monitor connected to your computer, now may be the time to upgrade to an LCD monitor. The new models of LCD monitors take up less space, with a larger display and seem to be getting cheaper by the day.

First off, they have a much smaller footprint than your normal monitor. What that means is it takes up much less space on your desk. It’s not nearly as bulky.

Second, LCD monitors are cheaper than ever. Just browse your Sunday paper’s specials and you can usually find 19-22 inch LCD monitors for less than $200. A few years ago LCD monitors were double to triple the price of a normal CRT monitor, now however they are roughly the same price.

Third, it’s possible to get even larger LCD monitors. Most people never went larger than a 17″ CRT monitor, because any larger and they got really huge and bulky. But today, it’s not hard to find a reasonably priced 22″ monitor and above. So, you can either have your graphics much larger and easier to read, or you can fit more on your screen. Either way you win.

Fourth, the quality is there like never before. 10 years ago when LCD monitors first started coming out, they were slower than normal monitors. The monitor would get really blurry during movies, or any graphic intensive action. Now, they have much faster response times and the quality of the picture is much better than it ever has been before.

Fifth, the newer models of computers and graphic cards only have digital outputs which no longer support older CRT monitors. Because of this increasing trend, CRT monitors are being eliminated from the market, and no longer supported.

There really is nothing holding you back any longer. If you need a quick upgrade, or are looking for an improved computing experience. Now is the time to move towards a new LCD monitor.

Video creation on a PC is becoming all the rage. Gone are the days when creating a video was a static event, what you got on the tape was what you got. Now with more and more powerful computers it’s become possible to create very expert looking videos rivaling what independent film makers could accomplish just 10 years ago. The limitations to creating videos on your computer usually are within the computer itself. Here are some things to look at to see if your computer can handle video creation.

First, you should look at how old your computer is. A bottom of the line computer that you can purchase in 2008 will be more powerful than the most expensive computer available in 1998. It’s important that you get an accurate gauge on how old your computer is to tell how likely it will be that you’ll be able to produce videos with it.

Second, is the video card. This is a very critical part of your video processing, as even innocuous tasks can take much longer with a sub standard video card. A newer video card with lots of onboard fast video memory is essential. Many of the most modern cards come with 256MB or 512MB or more, which can be a great help while processing videos.

Third, is the system memory. Most computers come with a standard amount of memory from 1-4GB’s. In the off chance that you have less than 1GB of memory, you’re going to want to immediately add as much memory as you can to the system. Don’t skimp however, you’ll need to get the best memory you can afford. The quality of memory can definitely make a difference as well.

Fourth, the processor speed. You’ll want a computer that has a fairly decent processor that can handle the workload you’ll be putting on it. Even the bottom of the line processors sold today are better than top of the line processors sold 5 years ago, so in many cases age is a larger factor than anything else.

Fifth, you’ll want plenty of storage space. A large hard drive is essential as many video files end up quite large. You’ll want to make sure that you have plenty of space so that you won’t run out of hard drive space in the middle of a large video production.

I’ve tried to list the items above in the order of importance. But, it will be up to you to weigh whether it makes sense to upgrade or instead invest in a larger more efficient machine.

If you’re going to be processing videos on your computer, it’s essential that you have a fast, efficient machine. By making sure you’ve started with a capable machine, you’ll be much more likely to create beautiful videos with less stress. Just following these quick and easy steps should help you along that journey.
